Listen to Garth Brooks Radio on iHeartRadio

Garth Brooks is launching his upcoming tour in Chicago.  The country superstar unveiled the opening city for his long awaited trek through Georgia fan Andy Roberts, who made the big reveal Monday afternoon with kids at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Brooks is expected to offer additional details, including the date and venue, on Tuesday.  Brooks said during his press conference last week that he was entrusting Roberts to reveal the first stop on his tour.  He explained that he was fulfilling a promise he made to Andy, who'd asked about a tour from the audience at one of Brooks' Las Vegas shows.

But Brooks won't be heading to Ireland later this month.  While the "Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event" had been cancelled last week, the BBC says efforts to negotiate a deal continued.

However, Garth says he learned Monday that the shows are definitely off.  He explains in a statement that "the Irish council cannot change their earlier ruling to not allow the licenses for all five shows."  Brooks adds that to say he's "crushed is an understatement."  He explains his mother always told him things happen for "the right reason," but as much as he tries he "cannot see the light on this one."

Brooks was scheduled to play five sold-out shows at Dublin's Croke Park from July 25th through the 29th.  He says it's "with a broken heart" that he's informing ticketholders they can now begin the refund process.
