Chuck Berry had a new LP in the works prior to his death this past weekend at age 90.

The album, Chuck, will be Berry's first new record in 38 years, as his family has promised to release it.

"Working to prepare the release of this record in recent months and in fact over the last several years brought Chuck a great sense of joy and satisfaction," wrote Berry's family on his official Facebook page Monday morning. "While our hearts are very heavy at this time, we know that Chuck had no greater wish than to see this album released to the world, and we know of no better way to celebrate and remember his 90 years of life that through his music."

Further details on the album will be released later this week, said the statement, adding that the plans were in place prior to the guitarist's passing.
