Residents Question Sewer Line Warranty Mailing

According to a recent Press Release from the City of Rochester;

Recently residential property owners in the City of Rochester have received several mailings from Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA), providing notice that they offer homeowners an optional protection plan for their exterior sewer lines that run from the sewer main in the middle of the street to the home.

Some property owners have raised questions about the legitimacy of the program after receiving the mailings. The SLWA program is a service being provided by a third party vendor and not part of any City Department or function. The SLWA has been endorsed by the National League of Cities and currently provides warranty service in over 400 cities in the United States.

The City of Rochester has entered into a Marketing Agreement with SLWA to allow the company to provide the warranty service to Rochester homeowners for exterior sewer line repairs. The Agreement with SLWA allows for the use of the City's logo and signature on marketing and advertising materials. The mailings from SLWA are part of the roll out of the program.

There is some basic program information in the Community Spotlight link on the City of Rochester's web site home page, including a brochure with Frequently Asked Questions.

Any additional questions or information requests related to this program should be directed to SLWA at the phone number listed in the mailings received by the company (1-844-257-8795) and not to the City of Rochester.
