Ever Want to Buy a Baby T-Rex Skeleton? It Could be Yours For $2.95 Million

They say if you can't find it on eBay, it doesn't exist, so it really shouldn't surprise anyone to learn that someone has placed the fossil of an infant Tyrannosaurus for sale up on the online auction site.

The 'Buy it Now' auction is listed as "YOUNG (BABY) T-REX TYRANNOSAURUS DINOSAUR FOSSIL HELLS CREEK MAYBE ONLY 1 TREX" by seller 'pirategoldcoins.'

The description of the auction lays out what the buyer can expect for their $2.95 million:

Most Likely the Only BABY T-Rex in the World! It has a 15 FOOT long Body and a 21" SKULL with Serrated Teeth! This Rex was very a very dangerous meat eater. It's a RARE opportunity indeed to ever see a baby REX, if they did not grow quickly they could not catch prey and would die. Histology shows the specimen to be approximately 4 years old upon death. Reconstruction of the skull has been done by Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology (from Natural History Museum in FL).
Many of the bones are waiting to be identified, but everyday more and more are being tagged.
The T-REX’ has only 12 teeth in Lower jaw and several other “claimed to be young T-Rex” are actually Nano’s. This is the case even at the Museum in L.A. Now, many Paleo’s think this maybe The “ONLY” T-REX Youth in the World!

(Free local pickup is included naturally).

The baby T-Rex fossil, estimated to be more than 68-million-years-old, was first discovered in 2013 on private land in Montana by Alan Detrich, a professional fossil hunter. The fossil was lent out to the University of Kansas Natural History Museum where it had been on display over the last two years.

According to a statement from the University of Kansas, they had no idea Detrich had any plans to sell the fossil online. The museum has since removed the exhibit and returned to Dietrich and asked to have any association with the museum removed from the eBay listing.

The seller offers a variety of dinosaur fossils for sale, including an 'Authentic Triceratops" skeleton for a mere $890,000, so if you're looking to create your own lost world, you'll want to bring your checkbook.

More than 1,000 people are currently 'watching' the online auction, but there's no word on whether anyone has made an offer on it.
