UPDATE: 5-8 Inches of Snow Expected and Winter Storm Warning in Effect

The National Weather Service in La Crosse has updated our storm watch to a storm warning with 5-8" expected across SE Minnesota.  Snowfall rates could be as high as 1 inch per hour and Thunder is possible.

.A WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL RETURN ACCUMULATING SNOW TO THE AREA

TUESDAY AFTERNOON INTO WEDNESDAY. THIS SNOWFALL WILL LIKELY IMPACT

THE TUESDAY EVENING COMMUTE FOR AREAS WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI

RIVER...WITH THE WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTED

FOR MOST LOCATIONS. THE EXPECTED WET NATURE OF THE SNOW WILL

RESULT IN ROADS QUICKLY BECOMING SLIPPERY AND HAZARDOUS.

TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 6 TO 8 INCHES IS EXPECTED FOR MANY

AREAS ALONG AND EITHER SIDE OF INTERSTATE 90...WITH LOCALIZED

HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. AMOUNTS WILL TAPER WITH SOUTHWARD EXTENT

INTO PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST IOWA WHERE SOME RAIN OR SLEET WILL

LIKELY MIX WITH THE SNOW AT TIMES. FOR AREAS NORTH OF INTERSTATE

94...AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.


PRECIPITATION MAY START OUT AS A PERIOD OF RAIN IN SOME LOCATIONS

WITH WARMER TEMPERATURES TUESDAY AFTERNOON. HOWEVER...A PERIOD OF

HEAVY SNOW IS ANTICIPATED TUESDAY EVENING...WITH SNOWFALL RATES

AROUND 1 INCH PER HOUR LIKELY AND SOME THUNDER ALSO POSSIBLE.
