Governor Mark Dayton announced Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Dayton made the announcement to reporters at a press conference during which he revealed his 2017 budget. The announcement came just hours after Dayton collapsed at the end of his State of the State Address Monday night.
Dayton says the diagnosis was made last week, and that there are no signs that the cancer has progressed past the prostate.
He will travel to the Mayo Clinic next week to determine the best course of action, which could include radiation, surgery or both.
