Florida Highway Patrol Officer Lucky To Survive Rear Impact

FHP released this dramatic video of a trooper trying to help a stranded motorist and instead becomes in need of an ambulance and more himself!

Trooper Richard Verbiest stopped his Chevrolet SUV with emergency lights activated behind a disabled motorist on the inside paved shoulder of southbound I-75 at mile marker 134 in Lee County.

Just seconds later, Fernando Xavier Espinoza, 35 of Fort Myers, was traveling southbound on I-75 when he swerved his car to avoid slowing traffic. He struck the guardrail and the back end of the stopped FHP vehicle(thankfully an SUV), and then his engine caught on fire.

Somehow, in obvious pain, the trooper was able to pull the door somewhat off the car and rescue this moron.
