"Mandy" Oscar Nomination For Nic Cage On This One!

Yeah, I know, I may be his brother.  But the way character is built and played is Oscar worthy I really do believe and it's still picking up theaters or being extended in theaters to sold out audiences. A lot of longevity on this film and people want to see it on the BIG screen.  Here's my original notes below.

Nicolas Cage's new flick, "Mandy." You know, some have made the comment, that most movies these days rely heavily on CGI effects to paint the film BUT Nicolas, he IS the CGI!  Actor/Director Ethan Hawke has said, "In so many words that Nicolas is the only actor since Marlon Brando that's actually done anything new with the art of acting."

In "Mandy," Nicolas appears, at times, to channel heavy metal/hard rockers Axl Rose and Dave Mustaine of Megadeth.  As long as I've known him, he's always had a penchant for music.

In an interview with Metal Hammer, Cage explains, “For me, all art is inspired by music on some level. Even when I come up with ways of speaking dialogue it has a musical intent to it.” “There’s one example in ‘Mandy’ where I say, ‘Did you rip my shirt?’ I knew I was going to go there with the melody and vocalization, and even though I’m a ‘film person’ and not a singer, I can still hear some of the dialogue as if I’m singing, almost like a metal singer.” Cage says, “To me, the voice is very gravelly and goes almost operatic, from a growl to a scream, which is metal all over.”

Cage then added, “I think there is some influence there, from Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, or sometimes Axl Rose’s vocalizations come into the process by virtue of osmosis, by being around it.”

Mandy was directed by Panos Cosmatos and stars Cage as ‘Red Miller’ – a man out for vengeance after the murder of his girlfriend.

It’s in theaters now and it's picking up theaters every day.  You have to see it on the big screen for the best effect.  Even though you can get it for your home screen. You've heard the phrase in history "Go West, young man Go West."  We'll update that to Go Large, everyone, Go Large! Actually FEEL what it's like (in one unbroken take) to be in a bathroom, drink a half bottle of vodka and morph from a grief-stricken victim into a howling, chainsaw-wielding psycho avenger! --Cope
